Camp MOE Staff Positions

Assistant Camp Director

Must be 21 by June 1st. Assists the Camp Director in the management of summer camp. Supervises the Activity instructors to ensure good quality program. Plans themes and leads all camp special event activities ensuring high level of camp spirit. Supervises the Before and After Camp Care and parent drop off and pick up of campers. Acts as Alternate Camp Director when Director is absent.

Unit Leader/Activity Instructor

Must be 21 by June 1st. Oversees and leads assigned camp group which usually includes a unit counselor and a support counselor. Responsible to instruct specific program areas (that require additional certification including: archery, boating, adventure climbing/ zip line) to different groups throughout the day. Create lesson plans and modify them to address different camper’s ages and abilities.

Camp Counselor

Must be at least 18 by June 1st. Oversee and care for a group of campers (campers will be grouped by grade level). Facilitate the daily schedule and participate in activities with campers. Instruct in specific program areas (sports, arts & crafts, music, nature, drama, etc.), to different groups throughout the day. Create lesson plans and modify them to address different camper’s ages and abilities.

Junior Counselor

Must be age 16 or 17 by June 1st. Assist Unit Counselors and Activity Leaders with their daily duties.

Support Counselor

Must be at least 18 by June 1st. Assist campers with special needs to become an integrate part of the Camp Program. Responsible to provide necessary supports allowing the campers with special needs the opportunity to participate in all camp activities. Provide assistance with assigned camper’s personal care as needed. (Examples: assisting in bathroom; changing clothes; assisting with lunch; etc.) Assist the Unit Director in planning and running activities during unit group time, lunchtime, as well as other times deemed appropriate.

Lifeguard/Swim Instructor

Must be at least 16 by June 1st. Minimum Requirement: American Red Cross Lifeguard Training or its equivalent. Responsible for the overall safety on the waterfront area. Needs strong swimming skills for lifeguards and swim instructor. Needs working knowledge of all swim levels and teaching techniques.

Custodial/Maintenance Staff

Must be 18 by June 1st. Maintain a safe and clean environment in and around Camp Moe’s building structures.

Office Manager

Must be at least 20 by June 1st. Reports to Camp Director. Applicant must have strong communication skills, be organized and efficient, have a positive attitude, a desire to work in a camp environment, excellent problem-solving ability, strong mathematical skills, and ability to work independently.

First Aider

Must be at least 21 by June 1st. Minimum Requirements: American Red Cross Standard First Aid and Personal Safety Training certification, or the equivalent and Professional CPR for American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Responsible for the health care of campers and staff, maintenance of medical records and dispensing of medication.

Nurse (RN)

Must be at least 21 by June 1st. Minimum Requirements: State of CT – Registered Nurse License – Personal Safety Training certification, or the equivalent and Professional CPR for American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Responsible for the health care and safety of campers and staff, maintenance of medical records and dispensing of medication.

Junior Lifeguard

Must be at least 16 by June 1st. Minimum Requirement: American Red Cross Lifeguard Training or its equivalent. Responsible for the overall safety on the waterfront area.
