DEEP Swim Lessons

DEEP Free Swim Lesson Program

Thanks to the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, we are proud to offer free swim lesson classes at the Torrington and Winsted Y’s.  

Funding provided by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) administered by the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP).

Swim lessons at the YMCA provide important life skills that could save a life, and provide benefits for a lifetime. Instructors are highly trained in our nationally recognized swim lesson curriculum. Lessons are held in the swimming pool.Students learn personal water safety and achieve basic swimming competency.

 To qualify, you must meet ONE of the follow criteria:

  • Live in the area in purple on the map
  • Be eligible for SNAP benefits or eligible for benefits through the Dept. of Social Services
